Panda, Sally and Cashew are my dear friend Linda’s dogs, the
driving force behind Unidos para los Animales. Love those three, although unfortunately Sally
left us last year, for greener pastures with an endless supply of squirrels!
Panda at the beach was a painting I made in 2016. In the
background (in the sky) I wrote in fine white letters the names of all the puppies that had
been rescued by Unidos para los Animales. I think it was 185 names at
the time…
I painted Cashew’s portrait as part of my art show Going to the
Dogs in 2017. Star Wars fans might recognize the buildings peeping out over
the jungle, as the planet Yavin, actually the archaeological site of Tikal,
Guatemala. Cashew wears a pendant in the shape of R2D2. The painting is titled A
New Hope…
Sally’s portrait has, of course, a background of squirrels.
