I've pretty much fallen in love with ALL my foster pups, but some were extra, EXTRA special. Such as Milagros. This tiny pup was brought to me by Linda of Unidos para los Animales. It was a few day after the eruption of the Fuego volcano in June of 2018, a disaster that cost dozens of peoples and hundreds of animals their lives. Milagros wandered on the scene and was picked up by a firefighter. On her side the word AYUDA (HELP) was written. We never knew if the person who wrote it needed help for themselves or for the pup.

The pup was in a terrible shape. I named her Milagros, because a miracle is what we needed. She was badly malnourished and had both distemper AND parvo virus. We had little hope she'd survive so we prepared for the worse and just made sure she was warm, well fed and loved in her last few days. But a miracle did happen and Milagros made it! Such a fighter! It took months for her to gain weight and fully recover, but she did turn into a healthy and happy adolescent. She was adopted by a lovely family in the US, that later also adopted Mango, another one of my foster puppies. We very much enjoy the updates on Milagros and Mango we regularly get.
